Frequently Asked Questions
What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapists are movement experts who improve the quality of life through prescribed exercise, hands-on care, and patient education.
Physical therapists diagnose and treat individuals of all ages, from newborns to people at the end of life. Many patients have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that need treatment. PTs also care for people who want to become healthier and to prevent future problems.
Physical therapists examine each person and then develop a treatment plan to improve their ability to move, reduce or manage pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
What to expect at the initial evaluation?
Initial evaluations are 60 minute sessions. Your physical therapist will review and discuss your medical history and details regarding your current injury or primary complaint. They will perform a comprehensive examination to identify potential causes of your pain or primary issue. In addition, they will assess your flexibility, strength and range of motion. Generally, treatment will be provided during the first session if your clinician finds that physical therapy is appropriate. Treatments will consist of a home exercise program and/or hands on treatments.
How much does Physical Therapy cost?
The cost of your customized treatment plan depends on your diagnosis, individual needs and insurance plan. We will verify your insurance benefits before beginning treatment to ensure that your care is affordable. Be sure to ask your health care provider for a Good Faith Estimate in writing before your evaluation. You can ask your healthcare provider and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
How often will I need to go to Physical Therapy?
The Physical Therapist will recommend how often you will need to come to physical therapy to best meet your goals. Each individual is different but in general, visits are scheduled 1-3 times per week.
What insurance are you in-network with?
We currently participate with BCBS of Michigan and BCN. If we do not participate with your insurance we can provide you with a Superbill which will have the required information so that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if you wish.
What to wear to Physical Therapy?
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move, stretch and perform exercises as well as closed toe shoes or tennis shoes. Please keep in mind that the therapist may need access to the area that is being evaluated and treated.
What should I bring to my initial evaluation?
Once you have scheduled your first appointment with Core Complete, our team will email you a link to complete your intake paperwork prior to your initial evaluation. You will also have an opportunity to enter your own insurance information and upload a picture of your insurance card (if applicable), your driver’s license, and a copy of your physical therapy script/referral (if applicable).
Do I need to see my Doctor prior to Physical Therapy?
In 2014, Michigan passed a law (Public Act 260), that allows individuals in the state of Michigan to directly see a Physical Therapist for 10 visits or 21 days prior to needing a referral from a Doctor. Some insurances still require a PT prescription/referral in order to cover PT services. If you think you may need PT and are not sure if you should go to your Dr. or just come to PT give us a call at 269-270-3501 and we can help.
